Riverhounds' Home Opener is Breast Cancer Awareness Night

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds professional soccer team and the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation (Y.W.B.C.A.F) are teaming up to promote Breast Cancer Awareness at the Riverhounds’ first home game of the season on May 2 at Chartiers Valley High School. The Riverhounds will be facing the Real Maryland Monarchs at 7:05 p.m.

Aside from seeing their favorite players along with new Riverhounds in action, fans will be receiving pink wrist bands in support of breast cancer awareness. Pink t-shirts will be available for women in attendance as Y.W.B.C.A.F and the Riverhounds will turn Chartier’s Valley Stadium pink for this special event.

Players on both teams will honor breast cancer survivors prior to the start of the game in a guard of honor. The crowd will also witness a massive release of pink balloons after the national anthem in celebration of cancer research, awareness, and the breast cancer survivors themselves.  Children in attendance will have plenty of games and activities to explore, all sponsored by the Young Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. The Breast Cancer Awareness promotion night is a great opportunity for fans and families to have a good time and contribute to a great cause.

The Young Women’s Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation will be collecting donations throughout the night.  A portion of the funds raised will be donated to the Reach to Recovery Program offered by the American Cancer Society.

Reserve tickets for the Riverhounds’ home-opener today.
